I am buy an iphone 3G 16GB from an online store in USA. The shipment cost quoted is 45 USD. And will be shipped by Fedex/DHL. How much tax do I have to pay for a single unit? How does the tax calculate?

BTW, the phone will be officially unlocked from Apple. so on worries with that.
This is not an answer to your direct question but a word of caution.
As of right now iPhone 3G is not unlockable. If you are getting phone from US most likely it’s locked and it will not work in Australia.
Also, if price is to good to be true, watch out for scammers.
